Privacy
darksky is pseudonymous. The only real-world thing we hold about you is the email address you sign in with, and we never show it to anyone.
What we keep
- Your email address, used only to send sign-in links. darksky sends no other email: no notifications, no newsletters, no “we miss you”.
- Your profile: handle, display name, bio, the badge you wear, and when you confirmed you are 17 or older.
- Your exam: each answer, how long it took, the scores that came out of it, and the badges they earned.
- What you do here: posts, replies, likes, the topics you follow, the accounts you block, the reports you file, and your notifications.
- Technical records: a cookie that keeps you signed in, and the request logs our hosting providers keep (such as IP address and browser).
What is public, and what is not
- Public: your handle, display name, bio, portrait, badges, posts and replies, and your trait chart unless you hide it in settings.
- Never public: your email, your exam answers, who you block, what you report, and anything about how your account has been moderated.
Analytics and error reports
We count a few steps to see whether darksky works: a visit to the front page, claiming a handle, starting the exam, passing or failing it, and posting. These go to PostHog, without cookies, tied to an internal account number. Never your email, your handle, your answers or anything you wrote.
When something breaks, a report goes to Sentry so we can fix it. Reports have form contents and cookies stripped out before they leave.
No advertising. We do not sell or share your data with anyone for marketing.
Who else handles it
- Supabase: the database and sign-in.
- Vercel: hosting.
- PostHog: the counts above.
- Sentry: error reports.
Deleting your account
From settings, at any time. It removes your sign-in, email, profile, exam answers and scores, badges, likes, follows, blocks and notifications, immediately.
Two things stay, without your name on them. Your posts are emptied and left as “[deleted]”, so replies other people wrote beneath them are not lost. Reports you filed stay, unsigned, because moderators still need them. Copies in our providers’ backups expire on their own schedule.
A banned account cannot be deleted by its owner while the ban stands.
Age
darksky is for people 17 and older. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
Your rights
You can see and correct most of what we hold in settings, and delete all of it. For anything else, including a copy of your data, write to contact@darksky.example.
