Content policy

darksky is built around dark personality traits, and people here say things they would not say elsewhere. That is the point. But the traits are a subject, not a licence: opinions can be ugly, and people are still not targets.

Not allowed

• Threats. Threatening or calling for violence against anyone, real or identifiable.
• Doxxing. Posting someone’s private information: real name, address, workplace, phone number, or anything that would find them.
• Illegal content. Anything illegal to post, and above all anything that sexualises a minor. This is reported to the authorities.
• Harassment. Singling out a person, here or elsewhere, to degrade, intimidate or pile on.
• Self-harm. Telling or encouraging anyone to hurt or kill themselves.
• Spam. Advertising, scams, automated posting, or saying the same thing over and over.

darksky is text only. Links show as plain text and are never previewed, so there is no way to post an image, and no reason to try.

Reporting

Every post has a report button, open to any signed-in account, badge or not. A person reads every report, and we aim to act within 24 hours. Some patterns are flagged automatically, but a flag only puts a post in front of a moderator; nothing is removed by a machine.

You can also block any account, which hides each of you from the other.

What happens

• The post is removed.
• The account can be banned from posting.
• The account’s posts can be limited so fewer people see them.
